"Tierschutz macht Schule" - the Association for Animal Welfare Education is not only working on a national basis but has also got close cooperations with international partners in order to foster animal welfare education globally.
CEO Mag. Marie-Helene Scheib and
Deputy CEO DI Monika Hametter were members of an expert group on animal welfare education that supports the European Commission in its initiatives on animal welfare education.
They were also members of the steering-committee that contributed to the organisation of the 1st Conference on animal welfare education in Brussels
In cooperation with the "Erna-Graff-Stiftung für Tierschutz" (a Berlin based animal welfare education organisation) "Tierschutz macht Schule" is aiming to build up a European Network for Animal Welfare education.
Together they have also organised the restricted workshop on Quality Standards in European Animal Welfare Education in May 2010.
In June 2013 the association organised the Symposion "Human-Animal-Society" 2013 together with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Health and other partners. There "Tierschutz macht Schule" held a workshop about international animal welfare education centres, where some valuable results about a possible implementation of the above were elaborated with the participants.
